Sussex all-rounder Luke Wright hopes performing well in Australia's Twenty20 Big Bash League will put him in the frame for an England one-day recall.

The 26-year-old, who missed the end of last season with a knee injury, will play for Melbourne Stars this month.

He told BBC Sussex: "Andy Flower and Stuart Broad see it as a good competition to be playing in and if I do well it will put me in contention.

"But now I'm just focused on staying fit and enjoying my cricket."

Wright had to undergo surgery on his knee because of the problem and added: "The surgeon is confident it will last me a long time. Things have gone really well. I feel like I did two years ago."

He has not featured for his country since the Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka in June and missed the tour to India.

It will give me a great chance as it's not an over-amount of cricket and for Shane Warne to come back, it's going to be exciting

England lost all five of the one-day internationals on the tour and Wright said: "It's amazing how your stock sometimes goes up when you don't play.

"If I had been in there (India) they might have said I wasn't good enough. It's a tough place to play."

Wright is set to join former Australia leg-spinner and ex-Hampshire captain Shane Warne, and Surrey fast bowler Jade Dernbach at the Melbourne Stars in Australia.

"It will give me a great chance as it's not an over-amount of cricket and looking down the list there are some big names," he continued.

"For Shane Warne to come back, it's going to be exciting and I'm sure there will be some big crowds coming to watch him. He looks as fit as a fiddle."

Wright also believes Sussex have as good a chance as anyone in the County Championship next season.

"I think we are in a good position," he added. "Looking at the Championship, I think anyone could win it if they get on a good run.

"I think that showed with Lancashire. They were expected to go down by a lot of people and they ended up winning it."
