Sussex will be one of three overseas teams to take part in the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament in January.

The Sharks will join the Netherlands, Canada and seven Caribbean teams in the competition which will be played in Trinidad and Barbados.

Sussex manager Mark Robinson said: "It's a good opportunity to give experience to players who've hardly played at first-team level.

"It will be good for them and allow us to see how well they are developing."

Sussex chief executive Dave Brooks added: "We are very much looking forward it.

"It offers our players the opportunity to play competitive cricket in different conditions and offers our coaching staff the chance to see show some of our younger players perform under pressure."

Sussex, the Netherlands and Canada will compete with: Barbados, Combined Campuses and Colleges, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Windward Islands and defending champions Trinidad & Tobago in the tournament, which will run from 9-22 January.
