Shaun Tait has focused on limited-overs cricket since 2008
Surrey have cancelled plans to sign fast bowler Shaun Tait for the FL t20 this summer due to injury concerns.
The Australian aggravated his elbow injury playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
Surrey cricket manager Chris Adams said: "A player having concerns about his ability to withstand a competition isn't a good starting point."
Surrey say they are confident of finding a suitable overseas replacement before the start of the competition.
Tait has not played a first-class game since 2008 after deciding to concentrate on limited-overs cricket - and then
quit international and domestic 50-over cricket in March
in order to focus solely on Twenty20 cricket.
He will continue to play in the shortest form of the game for Australia, South Australia and Rajasthan.
