Surrey batsman Usman Afzaal has revealed that he has not given up on playing for England again.
Afzaal told BBC London 94.9: "My main ambition is to play for England. But the first thing to do is win the respect of the [Surrey] players."
The 30-year-old only played for his country in the 2001 Ashes, where he featured in the last three Tests.
"If I'm playing well for the club it gives me a good chance to look even further," Afzaal said.
"Mark Ramprakash was the last batsman to be signed by Surrey so I know the club rates me."
The left-handed batsman who was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, signed a three-year contract with Surrey in September 2007 after previously playing for Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.
