Surrey have signed left-handed opener Scott Newman on a three-year deal to stay at the Brit Oval.
The 25-year-old hit 1162 runs at an average of 43.03 in his first full season with the county last year.
Meanwhile, batsman Nadeem Shahid, 35, has announced his retirement from first-class cricket.
The Pakistan-born player joined Surrey in 1995 and was a part of the Championship-winning sides in 1999, 2000 and 2002.
