Hollioake considers return
Adam Hollioake
Hollioake leads the competition with 17 wickets
Surrey all-rounder Adam Hollioake says he could consider playing only Twenty20 cricket next year.

Hollioake, who is due to retire in September, hit 45 not out and took 3-31 to lead the Lions to a 14-run quarter-final win over Worcestershire.

"If I was offered it I would have to seriously consider it but it would be hard to just play Twenty20," he told BBC Five Live.

"It would be a risky thing for a club to enter down that avenue."

In the middle of a £22m redevelopment of The Oval, Surrey last year chose not to offer contracts to veterans Ian Ward and Alec Stewart.

After hoisting the Twenty Cup as Lions skipper in the first year of the competition, Hollioake announced last October that this season would be his last, and reliquished the captaincy to Jonathan Batty.

But the 32-year-old has been a key factor in the club's 11-match unbeaten run in the shortest form of the game.

This year he far out-strips his team-mates in both batting and bowling, with 178 runs and a tournament-leading 17 wickets in five matches.

However he admitted: "Maybe I'll turn into a 15-stone fat boy over the winter."

Surrey will join Glamorgan, Leicestershire and Lancashire for Twenty20 finals day at Edgbaston on 7 August, with the semi-final draw taking place on Tuesday.
