University match, The Oval: Loughborough UCCE 206 & 235-4 drew with Surrey 663-9 dec
Vikram Atri was denied a maiden first-class century as rain brought an early end to Loughborough UCCE's meeting with Surrey at The Oval.
With the home side's bowlers able to take only four wickets in 62 overs of play and the students still more than 200 in arrears, the match was always destined to end in a draw.
But Atri, who has played for the Notts 2nd XI, was still enjoying his afternoon, cruising to 82 not out from just 147 deliveries, before the bad weather came at tea time.
John Francis, sometimes of Hampshire, also hit a half-century, sharing in a 90-run third wicket partnership as the defending county champions toiled in the field.
Left-hander Zoheb Sharif struck four boundaries to reach 22 not out before the rain came.
