Scots claim timely Twenty20 win over Kenya

Scotland handed themselves a much-needed boost ahead of their opening World Twenty20 qualifier by beating Kenya in the sides' official warm-up.

Peter Steindl's men were heavy underdogs after suffering two 10-wicket thrashings at the hands of the same opponents in Nairobi last week.

But they finally got going with the bat at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi to win by 16 runs.

Scotland posted 149 for six, captain Gavin Hamilton hitting 58 in 51 balls.

Richie Berrington and Madjid Haq then claimed three wickets apiece as Kenya collapsed from 78 for two to 133 for nine.

Opener David Obuya scored 32 to keep the Kenyans in contention before falling in the final over, the Scots having managed to keep wickets in hand at crucial times after batting first.

Scotland's opening qualifier is against the United States on Tuesday, followed by pool matches with Afghanistan and Ireland the following two days.
