Sidebottom relieved to be injury free

Nottinghamshire bowler Ryan Sidebottom says he wants to concentrate on bowling well at county level before thinking about a return to the England set-up.

The left-armer has endured an injury-ravaged year and told BBC East Midlands Today he must take things slowly.

"The last 10 months have been hard work and really frustrating," he said.

"I'm just happy to be playing again - I'll just keep playing for Notts, keep taking wickets. If I get the call for England again that will be fantastic."

Sidebottom, 31, says a succession of injuries including an Achilles problem have affected his performances for England in recent times.

You can do all the running and training you like but when you are out there bowling it makes a big difference

"I probably didn't do myself justice and played when I wasn't 100% fit and that probably showed in my performance," he said.

"But it's great to be back. Notts have looked after me with my rehab and that has gone fantastic and it's great to be playing in front of my home crowd.

"It's just a case of bowling now, getting out there and getting the miles in your legs.

"You can do all the running and training you like but when you are out there bowling it makes a big difference.

"I hope the body holds up and I can just play regularly and not worry about the injuries - there's nothing like bowling overs."
