David Capel is shaping his squad for the 2012 season

Northants head coach David Capel has confirmed that left-arm spinner Tom Brett and pace bowler Gavin Baker have both been released by the club.

Kettering-born Brett, 21, has been involved in the county's youth set-up since 1999 but did not make a single County Championship appearance.

Baker, 23, had one season on the staff at Wantage Road after making his debut while on trial the previous summer.

Capel said: "It's unfortunate we couldn't offer them new deals."
