Middlesex batsman Andrew Strauss is excited about taking on his England team-mates when he plays for Middlesex in the Stanford Super Series.

Strauss told BBC London 94.9: "I would get some kind of morbid satisfaction out of seeing them with their heads down and it should be fun.

"Clearly there'll be a bit of banter flying around but for all intensive purposes it's a warm-up game.

"If we can provide a banana skin for England we'll revel in that."

Middlesex take on England in Antigua on Sunday and Strauss said the county side are not under any pressure.

"The guys are just so excited to be out here, this isn't the sort of thing that normally happens to a county team," he said.

"It's new, exciting, different and the guys just cant wait to get stuck into the cricket."

We've got a formula that I think works in Twenty20 cricket and its going to be an exciting time

Andrew Strauss
Middlesex's unexpected success in winning the domestic Twenty20 Cup saw them win a place in Caribbean tournament.

The winners of the final match between England and a Stanford Superstars XI will walk away with $20 million.

And Strauss said he is enjoying the experience of touring with Middlesex: "All the tours I've been on have been with England, this with Middlesex, is slightly more relaxed.

"We don't feel a lot of pressure going into these matches, we've got a formula that I think works in Twenty20 cricket and it's going to be an exciting time."

After the tournament, Strauss will be going to India ahead of England's two-match Test series in December.

"I'm going to spend 10 or 11 days with the performance squad in Bangalore prior to meeting up with the England team, which for me is just great preparation."

At the age of 31 Strauss knows he has to impress for England this winter: "Clearly in New Zealand I was in the last chance saloon and I came good which is something I have a lot of pride about.

"I then followed it through with a really good series against New Zealand in England.

"The South Africa series was a bit tougher for me and I didn't score as many runs as I would have liked so it kind of averages out as an average ten months or so."

"I'm at a stage my career when I've really got to put my foot down and give it everything I've got."

You can hear full ball-by-ball commentary of England against Middlesex on the BBC London website on Sunday 26 October from 2130 GMT.
