Nixon is enjoying life in India

Paul Nixon
Nixon will shortly start planning for next season with the Foxes

Leicestershire captain Paul Nixon says he has loved playing with the Delhi Giants, despite falling at the knockout stages of the Indian Cricket League.

Nixon told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's such a fantastic competition.

"The Indian public have really warmed to Twenty20, as the English public have, and out here there's over a billion people who are cricket mad."

Nixon is due to return home before flying back to India to play in a mini-world tournament later in November.

The 37-year-old says he has played before crowds of 45,000 in the ICL and wants the competition, which is currently regarded as a rebel league, to be officially recognised.

"It doesn't encroach on the county game. The ICL have spoken to the powers that be and say they will do whatever it takes [to get official backing]," he added.

Nixon says he will shortly start training for Leicestershire and planning for next summer.
