Malcolm stays with Foxes
Devon Malcolm
Malcolm has extended his playing career further
Veteran fast bowler Devon Malcolm has committed himself to Leicestershire for another season.

The new one year contract ensures that Malcolm will continue playing first class cricket past his 40th birthday.

The paceman, who joined the Foxes in October 2000, played 40 Tests for England.

Leicestershire general manager Kevin Hill said: "We are thrilled that Devon has signed another contract.

"For the last two years he has performed to a very high standard and we believe his determination will help us enjoy a good season."

The news comes a day after Phillip DeFreitas was appointed as Leicestershire's new captain for next season.

The 36-year-old former England star accepted the job after Iain Sutcliffe rejected the chance to succeed Vince Wells as skipper at Grace Road.

Leicestershire hope to conclude new deals with Wells, Darren Stevens and Trevor Ward.
