Flintoff has set his sights on being the world's best one-day player

Lancashire director of cricket Mike Watkinson is looking forward to seeing more of Andrew Flintoff, following his impending retirement from Test cricket. The Lancs all-rounder, 31, has decided to concentrate on one-day cricket and Twenty20 cricket after the Ashes. Watkinson told BBC Radio Manchester: "It'd be a great boost for our team. "Commercially, it's great to have arguably the best player of modern times on a more regular basis. We may see more of him, it'd be fantastic." "It's been great to have him for the early stage of this season. "He put in some great performances for us. He's an inspirational character and it's fantastic to have him around. "Whilst it will be disappointing not to see him out there doing what he can as the world's leading all-rounder in Test cricket, it would be fantastic if we had him for a little more than we do now," Watkinson added. But captain Glen Chapple said he would not be placing too many expectations on Flintoff's shoulders. "I'm not anticipating anything, I think it's too soon," said Chapple. "He's got a big series against Australia, he's not actually retired yet. I'll just be interested and hopeful that he does really well. "Anything with Lancashire is for the future," he added.
