Kent batsman Joe Denly is targeting a summer call-up to England's Test side after missing out on their forthcoming tour to Bangladesh.

Denly is in the one-day party but has seen Hampshire's Michael Carberry chosen for the test squad ahead of him.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "I am disappointed but Michael Carberry has had a fantastic two years,

"I'm looking forward to this season with Kent and staking a claim for the Test side."

Denly, 23, this week extended his contract with Kent which will keep him at the St Lawrence Ground until the end of the 2011 season.

He said: "Kent is where I've grown up and played all my life and love playing here so I'm delighted to be here for a further period of time.

"I've got no real interest in going elsewhere, Kent is where my heart is so I'm very happy.

"Wherever you play you want to be playing the best standard and come up against the best players in the country so being in Division One is brilliant and hopefully we can push for that title as well."

Denly heads off to Bangladesh on 13 February and he predicts they will be strong opposition.

"Bangladesh aren't one of the strongest countries around but playing in their own country with their own conditions they're a very challenging side," he said.

"They gave India a good run for their money in a recent series and I don't think it's going to be easy or very straight forward at all."
