Stevens scored a century and then 35 not out against Surrey
Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens insists promotion from Division Two of the County Championship is not yet a certainty, despite their 28-point lead.
Kent's six-wicket win over Surrey took them a step nearer the title, and they have a game in hand with four to play.
Stevens, 33, told BBC Radio Kent: "Last year with three games to go we had a chance of the title. But we lost two of them and went down.
"We'll look to win each session of each game and if we win it, then so be it."
He added: "But we'll just keep trying to win games. It gives us a little bit of leeway at the top of the table.
"But we've still got to go to Derby and the boys have been talking about that already and we've only just finished this game.
"We'll got to Derby looking to play good cricket and try to come away with another win there."
Kent have revealed they have signed a new overseas player for the rest of the season, but his identity is being kept secret until his visa application has been approved.
