Hampshire are set to release batsmen Derek Kenway and Lawrence Prittipaul at the end of the current season.
Kenway made his Hampshire debut in 1997 and was capped in 2001.
Prittipaul made his debut in 2000, scoring 152 in his first home championship match, but made just 23 first-class appearances in all.
Team manager Paul Terry said: "It is always sad when local lads are released, but Derek and Lawrence have failed to grasp their opportunities."
He added that "some younger players have overtaken them" - referring to the likes of Zimbabwe-born pair Greg Lamb and Sean Ervine.
