Glamorgan clear air with Maynard

Matthew Maynard
Maynare spent three years as Glamorgan's director of cricket

Glamorgan say they have reached an amicable agreement with Matthew Maynard following the director of cricket's resignation in November 2010.

Maynard quit after Alviro Petersen was brought in as captain and Colin Metson as managing director of cricket.

Jamie Dalrymple also resigned from the club along with president Peter Walker.

"The club greatly appreciates the hard work and dedication provided by Matthew during his time at Glamorgan," said chief executive Alan Hamer.

"We were very sorry to lose him and he will be missed at the club by all those who were fortunate enough to play or work with him.

"I would like to wish him all the very best for the future."

Maynard responded by saying he had always been and would continue to be a keen supporter of the club despite the difficulties in the relationship over the last few months.

"I am very proud to have been such an integral part of the club and its history," said Maynard.

"I sincerely hope that it will go on to enjoy a successful forthcoming season."

The club said that neither they nor Maynard will be making any further comment on this matter.

New captain Alviro Petersen has had talks with Maynard junior trying to persuade him not to leave the Swalec Stadium.

The club are currently in talks with Maynard's 21-year-old son Tom who also tendered his resignation as a player in protest at the way his father had been treated despite having recently signed a new three-year deal.
