Glamorgan boss Matthew Maynard hopes to sign a third all-rounder to boost their Twenty20 campaign next year.

The Welsh county's hopes of making this year's 2010 quarter-finals were ended on Wednesday as they lost to Somerset.

They face Kent in Friday's dead rubber at Swalec Stadium with Maynard already planning for next year.

The director of cricket says he would be "very happy" to add another all-rounder to the complement Jamie Dalrymple and Jim Allenby.

"I still think it needs to be supplemented. I think with young players you're always going to get a little bit of inconsistency," said Maynard.

"I think senior players are more consistent. We've got a batting all-rounder in Allenby now, a batting seamer all-rounder in Dalrymple and if we can supplement that with a bowling-batsman all-rounder, I'd be very happy with that."

As Maynard hopes Australian pace bowler Shan Tait and fellow countryman Mark Cosgrove will return next year, his options are likely to be limited to home-grown signings.

"Cozzy's proved his worth this year. He's got 500 runs and it's a terrific effort from him and perhaps we just haven't supported him well enough at times with the bat.

"Saying that, there have been some very good performances from the batsmen and there has been some inconsistency there as well.

"So I would love to have Cozzy and Shaun back. They have fitted in well to the dressing room and the big thing about them, which I've really enjoyed, is they've given 100 per cent every game and you can't ask any more of that from any player.

"Shaun's fitted straight in. He's really enjoyed Cardiff and playing for Glamorgan and I think that's very important.

"So hopefully he will come back and be available to come back to us next year."

But whoever plays for Glamorgan should expect a revamped approach to the shortest form of the game with Maynard admitting they need to be more tactically flexible next time around.

He said: "I think we played some good cricket and some below par cricket at times and probably too many of the below par games were obviously costly.

"Twenty20's quite a simple game - if you play well you win and if you're off the game a little bit, you lose.

"And perhaps we haven't played as well as we could have done throughout the competition and I think it's cost us.

"We had a great start and perhaps on reflection we could have been slightly more flexible.

"Some sides have been flexible with their batting order, with their bowling and orders and systems and stuff like this and maybe it's something that we could look to address for next year."

The Dragons have called up Will Bragg into a 14-man squad to face Kent as they bid for revenge in the wake of last Sunday's defeat.

Glamorgan: J Allenby, M Cosgrove, M Wallace (wicket-keeper), T Maynard, B Wright, J Dalrymple (capt), G Rees, W Bragg, D Brown, J Harris, R Croft, D Cosker, S Tait and C Ashling.
