Glamorgan have signed Leicestershire all-rounder James Allenby on a three-year contract. Allenby, 26, will initially join the Welsh county on loan for the rest of this season after talks over a new contract at Grace Road broke down. He has scored nearly 2,000 first-class runs at an average of 37 since joining Leicestershire in 2006. "I'm absolutely delighted," Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard told BBC Sport Wales. "I know that a couple of other counties were keen on signing him and it is a real coup for us. "He has signed a three-year-deal commencing in October and we have got him for the remainder of this season on a loan deal.
"So hopefully we will be able to get him registered by the Pro40 against Surrey at the Oval on Wednesday and he can make his debut." Maynard added: "He is pretty much an Adrian Dale type of cricketer in the longer form of the game. "He's probably a little more of an explosive kind of batsman than Adrian and his one-day cricket is superb."
