Jason Gillespie will face a late fitness test before Glamorgan's County Championship clash with Northamptonshire at Swansea.
The Australian fast bowler is suffering from a hamstring injury but coach Matthew Maynard is hopeful Gillespie can prove his fitness.
"There is no tear but Jason needs a fitness assessment to see if he can play against Northants," said Maynard.
"He is a quality performer and is vital to our attack so we hope he returns."
Glamorgan are unbeaten in their opening two County Championship division two matches this season and their four-day game with Northants at St Helen's begins on Wednesday.
The Welsh county have recalled seam bowler Ryan Watkins and spinner Dean Cosker to their squad but Alex Wharf is rested.
Glamorgan squad: Gareth Rees, Matthew Wood, David Hemp (capt), Michael Powell, Jamie Dalrymple, Mark Wallace (wk), Robert Croft, Jason Gillespie, James Harris, Dean Cosker, David Harrison, Ryan Watkins.
