Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate could be out for up to six weeks with a calf strain, sustained during Wednesday's Twenty20 win at Taunton.

The Dutch international retired hurt on 48 and had to be helped off the field after slipping at the crease.

Ten Doeschate is now expected to miss the rest of the FP t20 campaign.

The South Africa-born 29-year-old has been in fine form for Essex in this season's Twenty20, scoring 295 runs in five knocks at an average of 73.75.

Ten Doeschate has also been an integral part of Essex's County Championship campaign to date.

His aggregate of 479 makes him the county's third highest run scorer and only David Masters has taken more Championship wickets than his 25 scalps.
