Cook finding his way in Twenty20

Cook is averaging 49 in the Twenty20 Cup

Batsman Alastair Cook believes a run of games for Essex in the Twenty20 Cup is helping him develop a way of playing the shorter form of the game.

The England international is averaging 49 after four games for Essex in the county competition.

"I've really enjoyed the last week and a half and it's good to score some runs," Cook told BBC Essex.

"It's a matter of playing a few games and finding a method which suits me and so far it's come off."

Many pundits believe the 24-year-old left-hander is not suited to the one-day game and he has been left out of both the England Twenty20 and 50 over squads.

But Cook himself is not expecting a recall any time soon.

"That's a long way off my radar and there are some excellent Twenty20 players around but you've got to keep scoring runs and it's been good experience after the Test (v West Indies) at Durham," he added.
