Ben Stokes hit 51 on his first-class debut against the MCC in Abu Dhabi
Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes is benefitting from working with Graham Thorpe as part of this winter's England performance squad in Australia.
Stokes, who was named in the party in September, has been impressed by the tuition of 100-times capped former England batsman Thorpe.
"He's been great to work with," Stokes, 19, told the Durham club website.
"He's given me pointers on my stance and preparations for facing deliveries which I'm trying to take into my game."
Stokes added: "They're not huge changes to make, but small changes can make a big difference and I'm already fairly comfortable with them."
The New Zealand-born teenager hit 51 on his first-class debut against the MCC in Abu Dhabi last April, and has now 798 runs in 14 matches.
Thorpe racked up 6,744 runs in his 100 Tests, amassing 21,937 runs in 341 first-class matches in his 17-year career with Surrey.
He was also named as one of Wisden's five cricketers of the year in 1998.
