Plunkett picked up a back injury during pre-season (PA)
Durham head coach Geoff Cook is adamant fast bowler Liam Plunkett will not be rushed back into action as he recovers from a niggling back injury.
"It is a disappointment because Liam gives us a lot more balance to the team," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"It's something we can't rush. It's the type of injury that if you rush it back and it goes again it's almost curtains.
"We'll make sure that it is settled and probably three or four weeks will see Plunkett back on the pitch."
Durham's last four-day outing saw them slump to a devastating defeat to Lancashire, but Cook has remained positive.

"One thing we keep saying to the team is we have to keep things in perspective. It's very early doors in the season," he said.
"The Lancashire game was exceptional, they played with a lot of ability and a lot of experience.
"We've got to take that on the chin, make sure we learn from it and make sure when we come out against Yorkshire we try to put that on the back burner and make sure we're in a positive frame on mind."
