Wells moves to the Riverside
Vince Wells plays a cover drive
Wells has been a consistent performer
Durham have agreed terms with ex-Leicestershire all-rounder Vince Wells. The 37-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract.

Wells rejected a one-year deal at Grace Road after spending 11 successful seasons at Leicestershire where he helped them win two County Championships.

Iain Sutcliffe, who the club hoped would succeed Wells as captain, has also left Leicestershire.

Durham coach Martyn Moxon is delighted to have an experienced player joining the squad at the Riverside.

"Vince has played cricket at the highest level and I am sure he will have a positive influence on our younger players," said the former England and Yorkshire batsman.

Invaluable

"The techniques they can learn from him will be invaluable to their development."

Wells's high point came when he represented England in the 1999 World Cup.

He said: "I have been very impressed with the cricket management at Durham and I'm really excited to be joining such a progressive club.

"Durham have some very talented youngsters and hopefully I'll be able to pass on some of the things I have learnt over the years."
