Palladino had a loan spell with Kent last season but did not play a game

Derbyshire have signed Essex bowler Tony Palladino on a two-year contract. Palladino spent eight seasons at Essex but has been troubled by injuries and has failed to secure a regular place. The 27-year-old played 52 first-class matches while at Chelmsford and replaces Ian Hunter, who has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent. Head of cricket John Morris said: "Tony has shown himself to be consistent and reliable and I'm delighted. He will add strength in depth for 2011." Morris added: "With Tony and Mark Turner now added to those already in the squad, I am pleased with the battery of bowlers we now have available and the options at our disposal."
