The signings of Graham Wagg, Mohammad Yousuf and Travis Birt will bolster our notoriously weak middle order but again much will depend on Michael di Venuto.
New captain Graeme Welch will probably carry the bowling again but hopefully Tom Lungley and Kevin Dean can stay fit for long enough to make an impression.
Wayne White and new boy Stefan Jones should offer more bowling options.
On paper the team looks stronger than in previous seasons, so at least we should be competitive in all formats.

Coach David Houghton is starting to shape the side he wants but, as other sides improve too, they could be in the bottom two for the fourth year running.
Tasmanian batsman Travis Birt is highly-rated but unproven, while Pakistan's Mohammad Yousuf will play in the worst conditions of the season.
Unheralded Aussie Michael di Venuto will continue to lead the batting.
New skipper Graeme Welch, 34, is heavily relied upon but Graham Wagg was worth a chance after his drug ban.
