COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, The Rose Bowl: Lancashire 283 & 351-6 dec drew with Hampshire 369 Hants 10pts, Lancs 7pts Match scorecard
Tom Smith hit 14 fours and two sixes in his 128
Tom Smith and Gareth Cross both scored centuries as Lancashire batted out the final day to secure a draw with Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.
After Lancashire resumed on 106-1, 20 ahead, Smith and Mark Chilton (47) took their stand to 134 before Chilton fell.
Left-arm spinner Danny Briggs struck twice to bring Smith and Cross together for a fifth-wicket partnership of 65.
Briggs ended Smith's 306-ball vigil for 128, while Cross moved to 100 before a draw was agreed with Lancashire 351-6.
The Rose Bowl wicket had provided Lancashire problems on day one, but on an increasingly flat pitch, the visitors managed to move from a precarious position at the start of play to preserve their status as the only unbeaten team in the County Championship.
Chilton edged David Balcombe to wicketkeeper Michael Bates to give Hampshire their first success, while Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Steven Croft both edged Briggs to slip after making starts.
But Smith and Cross made the most of the conditions to both post career-best scores.
Smith was eventually caught in the deep by Jimmy Adams, while wicketkeeper Luke Sutton fell to the part-time bowling of Michael Carberry, but Lancashire were 265 ahead when hands were shaken.
