Young batsmen Jason Roy produced another match-winning innings as Surrey beat Somerset by 38 runs at The Oval.

The 19-year-old, who is yet to make his first-class debut, followed up his century against Kent last week with 74 off 51 balls as the hosts made 171-6.

Having slumped to 18-4, Somerset failed to recover as they ended their innings on 133-9, Jos Buttler proving the pick of their batsmen with 29 off 18 balls.

Chris Tremlett led Surrey's attack, claiming an impressive 3-17.

Surrey were missing Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds on top of the already injured pair of Andre Nel and Tom Linley.

But, despite also being without England Lions wicketkeeper Steven Davies, the hosts were able to call on two impressive youngsters, Roy and opener Tom Lancefield, who hit three fours in his 16 off 10 balls.

Somerset were left in trouble by Tremlett and the spin of Matthew Spriegel as the pair claimed two wickets apiece within the first four overs as Surrey moved level on points in the South Group table.
