Sussex made it five wins out of five to go four points clear at the top of the Friends Provident t20 South Group by inflicting a first defeat on Glamorgan.

Chasing 144 to win, Sussex slumped to 46-4 with big guns Matt Prior, Brendon McCullum, Murray Goodwin and Mike Yardy all out cheaply.

But Luke Wright's 39 off 21 balls and an 18-ball 28 from Chris Nash ensured Sussex got home by three wickets.

Earlier, Tom Maynard and Gareth Rees both made 35 in Glamorgan's 143-6.

That looked a competitive total, but Wright turned the game back in Sussex's favour with his innings, which included three sixes.

Nash then took the pressure off the run chase by pulling Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait for six off the first ball of the 18th over.

He departed five balls later but by then Sussex were all-but home, eventually getting past the winning post with seven balls to spare.

Glamorgan captain Jamie Dalrymple:
"It was a game worthy of the top two teams in the competition.

"I thought we had a decent total on the board batting first, but they are a very good side.

"We could make it slightly harder for sides to score runs, that's something we can improve on.

"If we keep developing it'll stand us in very good stead.

"Sometimes you can learn more from defeat, it can highlight a few things for you and help you sharpen up your game."
