LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Headingley: Match Drawn. Lancashire 416-9 dec, Yorkshire 199-8 Lancashire 8 pts, Yorkshire 5 pts
Match scorecard
No play was possible on the final day at Headingley to spare Championship leaders Yorkshire from possible defeat as the Roses match ended in a draw. But, despite avoiding defeat, Yorkshire still slip back a place to second. They finished just one run short of a batting point and picked up only two bowling points. Rivals Notts, by contrast, picked up four bonus points in their drawn game against Essex at Trent Bridge and go back top on most wins. After a complete wash-out on the first day too, Lancashire had the better of the two days that were possible. All-rounder Tom Smith hit his first Championship ton before taking 4-46, also a season's best, with the ball. Yorkshire closed on 199-8 on the third day, needing 68 to avoid the follow-on before being spared by the weather. Lancashire remain third, having closed the gap on the leaders to six points. Neither side return to County Championship action again for a month until they meet in the Roses match return at Old Trafford on 28 June.
