LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Riverside: Kent 320 beat Durham 121 and 195 by an innings and four runs Kent 22pts, Durham 3pts Match scorecard
Makhaya Ntini finished with match figures of 10-104
Makhaya Ntini bowled Division One bottom side Kent to their first win of the season as Durham were beaten by an innings and four runs.
Ntini took 6-51 to finish with 10 in the match to humiliate the defending champions in just five sessions.
Needing 199 to make Kent bat again, only Michael di Venuto (86) and Ben Stokes (53) offered any resistance as Durham were bowled out for 195.
Earlier Kent were dismissed for 320, with Darren Stevens ending on 102.
Stevens turned Mitch Claydon's first ball of the day to long leg to move from 99 overnight to complete his century but played on to his own stumps off the same bowler five balls later.
Ntini was removed by Liam Plunkett to complete the Durham innings soon after but the South African was quick to have his revenge on the home side, trapping Kyle Coetzer lbw for just four.
Scott Borthwick, Dale Benkenstein and Gareth Breese all fell for single-figure scores and new captain Phil Mustard was caught behind off Simon Cook (2-43) for 16 before Di Venuto and Stokes combined for a sixth-wicket stand of 81.
Stokes, batting with a runner after injuring his ankle fielding on the first day, hit a 39-ball half-century before being bowled by Ntini, with Plunkett suffering the same fate three balls later.
Ntini, who now returns home to act as an ambassador at the football World Cup, wrapped up proceedings by having Di Venuto caught at first slip, Chris Rushworth caught by wicketkeeper Geraint Jones and trapping Steve Harmison lbw.
Durham, who went through the whole of last season unbeaten, have now lost two of their six games this year, while Kent notch their first win since returning to the top flight.
