Mark Wagh hit the 27th first-class century of his career

Nottinghamshire rescued a draw against relegation-threatened Hampshire thanks to Mark Wagh's third County Championship hundred of the season. Wagh hit an unbeaten 136 as Notts, following on 247 runs behind, batted out the day to reach 271-4. Wagh received good support from Samit Patel (48) and veteran Ali Brown (37 not out) before both sides agreed to the draw. Notts escaped with 10 points, while Hampshire collected 12. The result will please neither team, as Notts lost further ground on runaway leaders Durham at the top of the table, while Hampshire remain very much in danger of the drop after failing to force a win despite amassing 654-8 in their first innings. The battle to avoid going down with Worcestershire, who are way adrift, is incredibly tight, with just four points now covering the teams from fifth to eighth. Hampshire currently occupy eighth place, just a point behind Yorkshire, who are two behind Warwickshire, with Sussex a further point better off.
