COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, The Oval: CLOSE OF PLAY, FINAL DAY: Surrey 608-4dec drew with Leicestershire 593-5dec and 23-0 (Surrey 9pts, Leics 8pts) 31 July - 3 August 2009
Mark Ramprakash smashed his way to the 15th double hundred of his career

Surrey pair Mark Ramprakash and Stewart Walters put on a third-wicket stand of 404 as their Division Two match against Leicestershire finished in a tame draw. Their partnership was just nine runs short of the county record third-wicket stand of 413 between Darren Bicknell and David Ward against Kent in 1990. Ramprakash made 274, while stand-in skipper Walters made 188 as the home side declared on 608-4. Surrey then bowled nine overs in 20 minutes to avert an over-rate penalty. Leicestershire, who had themselves piled up 593-5 declared in their first innings, then reached 23-0 as the game ended in an inevitable stalemate. One record Ramprakash and Walters did surpass was the highest-ever stand against Leicestershire, beating the 403 put on by Essex's Graham Gooch and Paul Prichard at Chelmsford in 1990.
