COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Cheltenham:
Northants 232 and 58-1 beat Gloucestershire 147 and 142 by nine wickets (Northants 18pts, Glos 3pts)
Lucas claimed 12 wickets, his best ever haul in first-class cricket
David Lucas claimed his maiden first-class 10-wicket match haul as Northants beat Gloucestershire inside three days.
With play abandoned on day two because of heavy rain, the visitors resumed on 175-6 in reply to Gloucestershire's first-innings total of 147 all out.
Captain Nicky Boje's unbeaten 87 helped them reach 232 all out before a second-innings haul of 7-24 from Lucas saw the home side skittled again for 142.
Northants easily knocked off the 58 they needed to seal a nine-wicket win.
Stephen Peters (25) was the only man out, edging Chris Taylor behind to Stephen Snell, while Ben Howgego finished 28 not out as Northants completed their emphatic victory within two days of actual play.
Lucas finished with career-best match figures of 12-73, with his second-innings haul of 7-24 also a career best, as 15 wickets fell on day three, to go with the 16 that went down on the opening day.
