Derbyshire skipper Chris Rogers showed how unlucky he was to miss out on the Ashes tour party as he launched his Championship season with a century. The Aussie hit 104 as Derbyshire's rain-hit visit to Chesterfield ended with a draw against Gloucestershire. Rogers hit 104 as the home side made 402-8 declared, supported by Dan Redfern's 74 and Garry Park (62). Defending their own 403-5 dec, the Gloucester attack found little to assist them in the Queen's Park pitch. Rogers had missed the first three Championship games because of a problem with his visa application but he was soon dominating the bowling in customary fashion on another chilly, overcast day. He and Park took control in a second-wicket stand that added 146 in 38 overs. The Derbyshire skipper reached his fifth century for the county and his 34th in first-class cricket from 132 balls, and hit 18 fours before getting trapped lbw by Jon Lewis looking for another. Redfern made the most of a straightforward dropped slip catch on 17, hitting 14 boundaries in his 74. Gloucestershire remain top of Division Two while Derbyshire are still undefeated.
