TWENTY20 CUP, NORTH, Derby: Leicestershire 144-6 beat Derbyshire 130-5 by 14 runs (Leics 2pts, Derbys 0pts)
Leicestershire made it back-to-back Twenty20 Cup wins with a 14-run success over Derbyshire at Derby. It was a real team performance from the Foxes as all their top order chipped in to their total of 144-4, Matthew Boyce top scoring with 33. And they were tigerish in the field as the home side were restricted to 130-5. Andrew Harris and Claude Henderson both took two wickets as Derbyshire, for whom Greg Smith's 43 came closest to a match-winning innings, were frustrated. Fresh on the back of Wednesday's thumping 70-run win over Nottinghamshire, this result further boosted Leciestershire's hopes of snatching second place off Yorkshire in the North Division. But it left Derbyshire with a four-point gap to bridge to the Tykes when their campaign resumes against Durham on 23 June. Leicestershire's next fixture in the competition is the trip to Trent Bridge for the return against Notts 24 hours later.
