Glos allowed to delay Notts tie

Friends Provident Trophy scores

Gloucestershire have been allowed to delay this Saturday's home Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final with Nottinghamshire until 16 June.

Their Bristol home will be in use by West Indies and England players preparing for Sunday's one-day international at Nevil Road.

There are now three ties on Saturday, with holders Essex given a second trip to face Lancashire in four days.

Hampshire meet Middlesex at the Rose Bowl and Somerset play host to Sussex.

Middlesex, who had already finished their games, squeezed into the last eight thanks to Warwickshire's unlikely tie with Kent.

And Hampshire booked their place thanks to two shock results, their surprisingly easy 10-wicket win at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire, who also made it through, and Ireland's extraordinary 94-run victory over Worcestershire at New Road.

Lancashire now face a third meeting with Essex in a fortnight. And, although they have home advantage at Old Trafford, Essex have won both those two previous meetings.

Before they had even won Group B, Gloucestershire had already contacted the England and Wales Cricket Board to serve notice of the potential clash of dates.

But, following communication with the ECB on Thursday morning and consultation with Nottinghamshire, they have been allowed to pick Tuesday, 16 June to stage the tie, with the following day serving as a reserve day.

"We obviously wanted a home tie. We felt the players had earned it and were particularly keen not to have to play the game away," Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson told BBC Radio Bristol.

"When a side has finished first the rules are very clear; you win your group and you get a home draw.

"As soon as you get away from doing that the competition loses a bit of integrity. We're very pleased the ECB has done this and Notts have moved a fixture."

In keeping with other home Friends Provident Trophy matches at Bristol, the match is scheduled to commence at noon (1200 BST).

Nottinghamshire's three-day game in The Parks against Oxford UCCE will now be moved back a day from 17-19 June to 18-20 June .

The Trophy semi-finals are due to take place on Sunday 5 July.
