Sussex hopes hampered by downpour

Sussex v Gloucestershire - Match abandoned
(Sussex 1pt, Gloucs 1pt)
Gloucestershire 306-9

Friends Provident Trophy

Rain hindered Sussex's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the FP Trophy after their clash against Gloucestershire at Hove was abandoned.

Umpires Michael Gough and Jeff Evans called the game off at 2000 BST after a torrential storm during the interval.

Gloucestershire made 306-9 from their 50 overs, with Craig Spearman hitting 67 and Steve Adshead 66 not out.

The result sees Sussex move into second place in Group C, one point above Yorkshire, who they meet on Monday.

Both sides have two games left to play and are battling it out for the right to join group leaders Gloucestershire in the last eight.
