Hildreth's previous one-day best was 122 against Derbyshire in 2006
James Hildreth hit a one-day best 151 as Somerset eased to a 151-run FP Trophy win over Scotland at Taunton.
Hildreth shared a second-wicket stand of 270 with Marcus Trescothick (144), and Peter Trego hit an unbeaten 39-ball 74 as Somerset piled up 403-3.
Scotland were never in the hunt despite Ryan Watson's 67, 62 from captain Gavin Hamilton and 50 from Neil McCallum as they reached 252-9 in reply.
Trego and Alfonso Thomas both took three wickets as Somerset cruised home.
The emphatic victory, thanks to Somerset's record 50-over score, maintained their 100% record at the top of Group B.
James Hildreth told BBC Somerset:
"It was the usual Taunton wicket and pretty decent to bat on. We knew there wasn't much swing so we knew that if we got ourselves in we'd probably get a couple of good scores.
"Marcus Trescothick is a quality one-day player and England miss him massively.
"Batting with him is a huge advantage because there is no pressure on me to get runs because you know he is going to get them at the other end."
