Draw dents Warwickshire ambitions

County Championship D1, Grace Road: Day Four: Leicestershire 432 draw with Warwickshire 267 & 169-3
Leics 12 points, Warwickshire eight points

Second-placed Warwickshire lost ground to Division Two leaders Worcestershire after a draw at Leicestershire.

The visitors had started the final day on 19-0 in their second innings - still 146 behind - and Darren Maddy was out without any addition to the score.

Warwickshire lost Navdeep Poonia on 64 and Jonathan Trott on 97 before Michael Powell and Jim Troughton dug in.

Powell earned his highest score of the season with 68 as he put on a unbroken 72 with Troughton to secure the draw.

Powell reached his 50 off 154 balls with six fours and Troughton made 34no off 102 balls.

Warwickshire moved into the lead soon after tea and, after an over with the new ball, the sides agreed on a declaration to allow the game to finish in a draw with 15 overs remaining.
