Worcs continue to dominate Leics

County Championship D2, Grace Road, day two (close):
Leicestershire 120 & 138-4 v Worcestershire 379

Match scorecard

Worcestershire look on course for their second County Championship win of the season as Leicestershire fell to 138-4 by the close of the second day.

Resuming on 175-2 - already 55 ahead - Vikram Solanki went on to complete his century, while a strong display from the tail helped the visitors to 379.

Nadeem Malik and Garnett Kruger shared eight wickets, but the hosts struggled.

And only a good stand between James Allenby and Paul Nixon helped them finish day two 121 runs behind.

Before those two came together late in the day, Kabir Ali had taken two wickets in helping reduce Leicestershire to 85-4.

Steve Magoffin also took a wicket, while England hopeful Simon Jones recovered from a sluggish start to produce a beauty to remove Boeta Dippenaar, the South African seeing one bounce steeply and fly off the shoulder of his bat and into Solanki's hands at point.

But Allenby and skipper Nixon at least provided hope of the hosts avoiding an innings defeat in the remaining 15 overs of the day, building Leicestershire's first half-century stand of the match.
