COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO Derby, day three of four: Derbyshire 270 & 417-6 drew with Warwickshire 310 & 160-4 Derbys 9 pts, Warks 10
Freddie Klokker notched up a maiden ton for Derbyshire, but the hosts could not force victory against Warwickshire.
Home captain Rikki Clarke declared the second innings on 417-6 after Klokker hit 103 to become the first Dane to score a century in county cricket.
That left the Bears with a target of 378 to win and, when Darren Maddy and Ian Bell fell early, it looked like Warwickshire were in danger of defeat.
But Jonathan Trott made an unbeaten 43 to lead them to 160-4 at stumps.
It was a poor return from England batsman Bell, who would have wanted to make more than 28 on a warm, muggy day before falling to slow left-arm spinner Nayan Doshi ahead of the Test series against New Zealand.
His departure had Derbyshire scenting victory with Warwickshire 59-3, but Trott combined with Michael Powell to steer their side to safety.
Earlier, the hosts had surprisingly batted on for most of the morning to extend the overnight lead of 283 by another 94 runs in an hour and 40 minutes.
However, it did at least hand Klokker the opportunity to register his first century for the club, the Dane adding the 24 runs he needed to his overnight score while Jon Clare (64 from 59 balls) provided some much needed impetus to the innings.
