County Championship Division One, The Oval:
Surrey v Sussex
Match abandoned - no play possible because of rain
Surrey and Sussex had to settle for four points each after their County Championship match at the Oval was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
An early morning inspection on the final day led the umpires to call off play with the pitch waterlogged.
It was bad news for Surrey who urgently need points as they lie second from bottom with only three games remaining.
Leaders Sussex, meanwhile, face the prospect of losing vital ground to their rivals in the title battle.
It is the first time a County Championship match has been abandoned at the Oval for 26 years.
