County Championship Div 2, Colwyn Bay, day two (close): Glamorgan 465 v Northants 115-6
Bottom-placed Glamorgan took a step towards their second win of the season as Northants closed 350 behind them at 115-6 after two days at Colwyn Bay.
Alex Wharf became the first Glamorgan player to score two centuries this season when his unbeaten 111 helped the home side to an impressive 465.
He was dropped twice but batted for over five hours, sharing 156 for the final two wickets.
Ryan Watkins then claimed a career-best 4-45 to rattle Northants.
Chris Rogers spilled the first of the chances at backward-point when Wharf was on 42, and David Sales put down another straightforward chanc at mid-wicket with Wharf on 57.
Simon Jones helped Wharf to his sixth century, sharing 79 for the last wicket.
Jones smashed 18 from one Lance Klusener over, with a six a three fours.
In his more customary role with the ball, Jones got through two encouraging spells but still remains wicketless in his third Championship appearance.
