County Championship D1, Headingley: Yorkshire v Sussex
No play Friday because of rain
Yorkshire was one of the wettest parts of the country on Friday, and day one of the Championship match at Headingley against Sussex was washed out.
Umpires Richard Kettleborough and Ian Gould confirmed that fact half an hour before the scheduled start.
Sussex captain Chris Adams must wait until Saturday to compete against the club he appeared destined to be leading this season until his winter U-turn.
Adams had an 11th hour change of heart about becoming Yorkshire captain.
Instead, Yorkshire went for local hero Darren Gough - picking him up from Essex.
But Gough misses the game after breaking a bone in his hand, and is replaced by Ajmal Shahzad.
For Sussex, Mushtaq Ahmed and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan return after being rested for Wednesday's FP Trophy win over Middlesex.
The club are, meanwhile, still waiting for former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq's application for a UK passport to be approved.
Chief executive Gus Macaky said: "We hope this will come through in the next few weeks - though of course nothing can be confirmed as yet. He is desperate to get playing again."
