County Championship D1, Edgbaston: Warwickshire v Worcestershire 86-4 (day one, stumps)
Kabir Ali took three wickets as Worcestershire claimed the upper hand on a rain-shortened day against local rivals Warwickshire.
Kabir, 27, has been named in the squad for England Lions - the new name for England A - who play West Indies at New Road next Thursday.
He responded with 3-32 as the Bears were reduced to 86-4 on day one of the Division One game at Edgbaston.
After a late start play was finally abandoned half an hour after lunch.
"I am looking at the call up in a positive frame of mind. It is another opportunity for me to prove and perform and hopefully knock on the door again," said Kabir.
"Because I haven't been picked this year, I haven't given up hope. I have bowled well in championship cricket and I have also done pretty well in the one-day stuff.
"I am still very upbeat and have still got my fingers crossed and, if the opportunity is given to me, I will give it my best shot."
