County Championship D1, The Riverside: Durham 481 & 131-4 beat Yorkshire 393 & 218
Points: Durham 22, Yorkshire 7
Durham climbed to second in Division One of the County Championship with a six-wicket victory over Yorkshire.
Set 131 to win after Graham Onions took Yorkshire's one remaining wicket with the second ball of the day, Durham struggled to 35-3 at The Riverside.
But opener Michael Di Venuto's 53, his fifth half-century in nine innings, put them in sight of victory.
Dale Benkenstein (32 not out) and Phil Mustard (22no) then saw Durham home and handed Yorkshire their first defeat.
Skipper Darren Gough was Yorkshire's best hope of an unlikely win, trapping Will Smith lbw for three and then seeing Gordon Muchall edge an outswinger for six.
But Gough's 2-18 was in vain as Durham held their nerve, Benkenstein gloving a Tim Bresnan delivery over the slips before he and Mustard took command, Mustard striking two successive fours to bring up the 131 needed.
