County Championship D1, The Riverside: Durham 293-4 v Yorkshire 393 (day two, stumps)
Durham fought back well on day two against Yorkshire by bowling out the leaders for 393 and closing on 293-4.
Yorkshire added 42 to their overnight 351-6 with Jacques Rudolph bowled for 111 by Ottis Gibson, who finished with fine figures of 7-81 at The Riverside.
The home side stumbled to 83-3 in reply but Kyle Coetzer (91) added 131 with Dale Benkenstein (64no) to rally them.
The Zimbabwe-born batsman then put on an unbroken 79 with Phil Mustard (53no) before bad light ended play early.
Rudolph added only seven to his overnight score before seeing his off-stump rattled by an excellent delivery and three balls later steep bounce forced Simon Guy to edge to Mustard.
The same combination accounted for Darren Gough and Jason Gillespie but both Durham bowlers were back in the pavilion with the score on 17.
There was still plenty of life in the pitch but Coetzer played himself in carefully before accelerating, and with Mustard playing fluently the prospects of a first-innings lead for the hosts grew.
